About the Campaign
Locked-Out Stagehands, SEIU Janitors Ask for Support
from Community, Performers
Ex-Forum workers who have seen their wages slashed
by as much as 35 percent are fighting a campaign to
defend middle-class jobs and win fair contracts. They
are asking for the support of the community and from
the performers as they lead rallies outside the venue.
IATSE Local 33 members, SEIU 1877 janitors and Operating
Engineers 501 are asking concert goers to limit concession
purchases as well as phone and fax the Forum’s
owners, urging them to meet with the workers. They
are also asking performers to support the workers by
refusing to cross the picket line.
Stagehand veterans have been seeking a new contract
with the LA Forum for two years after their paychecks
were slashed by more than 35 percent for certain types
of work. Janitors had their contracts terminated in
February. The Building Engineers were forced out of
the Forum last year.
The Forum is owned by Faithful Central Bible Church,
which purchased the facility six year ago.
